HOW THEY ARE MADE

1500 species of bamboo are known worldwide. Only one, thick-walled and with many “power fibers” is suitable for making golf club shafts: Arundaria amabilis the “lovely grass.”

Six strips are split, following the natural fibers, from the hollow bamboo stem and hardened at high temperature. To assure life-long durability, the bamboo’s nodal scars are arranged in a spiral around the shaft.

After splitting, the individual strips are planed to precisely the same dimensions. Then, a special process is used to combine the 6 strips into a permanent hexagonal form.
The tapered shaft is subsequently sanded and polished and finished with a weather-proof special coating. Now it is almost indestructible.

Selektierte port. Korkscheiben

The grip is made from hand-selected Portuguese cork disks and the shaped. This natural material provides a comfortable grip at any time of the year, unaffected by rain or frost.

The upper end of the grip is selected fine hardwood and the shaft emerges at the grip’s lower end through a ring of nickel silver.
The ferrule joining the shaft to the putter head is turned from stainless steel. The head, in classic “Anser” style, is milled from a massive block of stainless steel and weighs 350 grams.

The name of the owner is hand written on a bamboo insert inlaid into the putter head.

Making the putter requires more than 35 hours.

THE STORY

Developing the putter took more than 2 years. After golf-playing friends with very low handicaps (under 10) asked me to develop an exclusive putter with a bamboo shaft, more than 15 “test models” were necessary before the results were perfect for all.
The test models were played in all possible situations and even minute improvements were suggested until the end. Finally one of the friends said,
“Actually too good and too fine to play with!” At that moment, I knew that the putter had reached its final form.

The initials of these friends form the name of the putter: “B.E.N.T.”
